FOCUSED TRAINING: 1 CE HOUR
Diagnose and Treat PANS and PANDAS
A Guide for Mental Health Providers
A focused training where you will learn efficient and effective treatment, including CBT with ERP, for the condition of Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS).
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) combined with exposure and response prevention (ERP) can provide powerful relief from childhood-onset OCD - even if it's unrelated to PANDAS.
Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) is a condition where an individual presents with sudden onset psychiatric symptoms that create overnight changes in mood, mental and cognitive functioning leaving a child or young adult and their family in a state of crisis. This condition occurs after someone contracts an infection.
Brain inflammation occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy brain cells, leading to autoimmune processes that affect central nervous system function. This brain inflammation can result in severe OCD, separation anxiety, mood changes, tics, food restriction, incontinence, and cognitive difficulties. Efficient and effective treatment, including CBT with ERP, is crucial for a good prognosis.
